Greetings from Vancouver, Canada
Thanks to all of you who have already sent me greetings through my original sign on - I'm still trying to familiarize myself with this site, so imagine my surprise when I saw all the 'hello's' a few minutes ago. What a warm welcome!
I've been a police officer with the Vanvouver Police Department (Canada) since 1995, and have been assigned to the Dog Squad since 2005 where I work with my four-legged partner, Police Service Dog Hondo. Just recently I was given permission to author a blog for the department, and it was through comments left on the blog that I found this great site.
Again, thank you for the welcome, and I'm looking forward to becoming a part of this community.

Hello & Welcome Sandra, Nice to hear from you, I think it is great that your Department allows you to blog. NYPD has a bi-monthly magazine, called the Spring 3100. Each precinct/unit usuallly assigns a person to send in comments, whether it being jobs well done, birth announcements, promotions and other happenings in the command. What ever is written has to be approved first by the Precinct's Commanding Officer, then the Borough's C.O and then Spring 3100 itself, hence plenty of censorship. So Kudos to you for writings and your department for allowing it!
By the way, Great Partner you got there! Hondo!

Thank you all again for the warm welcome.
And yes, 2 Blue 4 U, it is impressive that my department approved my idea of authoring. I wasn't expecting them to be so receptive to the idea, but apparently wonders never cease. What's really nice is that I'm able to write on pretty much whatever I'd like to, and the department does not edit the blog in any way. Mind you, I think it's clear that the posts are all written from my point of view, and I've taken the risk off of the department by saying all the opinions are my own etc etc.
