Retired guy from Ohio marking in-service.
I just got verified so I better check in. The short story is after high school graduation in 1968 I enlisted in the Air Force. My last station was Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. After taking several city police exams and being interviewed, it was between two city departments; Cincinnati and Columbus. In order to coincide my discharge date with the start of an academy, it had to be in Columbus. I served 14 years in Patrol and the remaining in plain clothes. I retired after 25 years service in 1997. Like many officers, I have back injuries that caused me to stop working my part time retirement jobs at golf courses. I hope I can share some of my street experiences with the members and keep up with current events from today's young officers. Stay safe!

You are an elite group of select members, a brotherhood of highly trained professionals, who are called upon to protect your community in a time of need. Guardians for safety. Being a police officer is not for the faint of heart. You must be honest, trustworthy and fearless in the face of evil. You are being watched everyday. Represent yourself, your department and the shield, for it should always be the embodiment of all that is good and justly. You are the thin blue line. Be proud, be tough and be safe.
