Brand New Here!
A little history about myself; my name is Chad, I'm 26, been married for a little over five years to a wife that's an accountant. For fun I love to go bike riding, play any sport that keeps you active, shooting and when I have a hard day at work running on the treadmill longer than my normal routine.
I am currently a supervisor for a local bank (Johnson Bank for those of you in the area) and am doing everything in my power to become a law enforcement officer. I believe with all my heart that you need to start at the bottom and earn you everything that comes your way and with that mentality I have started to volunteer with the local sheriff's department, a crime prevention group, and am currently trying to join the American Red Cross.
I am not trying to become an officer so I can wear a badge and have a gun but so I can help people. That is why I am volunteering, I cannot imagine a better way to learn on how to be a great officer by volunteering my free time to help those in need.
That being said I am currently in the hiring process to become a reserve police officer for the local department. I've passed everything thus far and am now just waiting to hear back. I cannot wait to get started and if this ends up being something that I enjoy like I really think it is I'll work on becoming a full time officer.
Feel free to ask any questions and if you are in the southeastern Wisconsin region and need volunteer help please do not hesitate to contact me. My services are always available.
Thank You,
Chad

Welcome! Good luck with the hiring process. It sounds like you're very determined, and for the right reasons!

Thank you for the welcome and yes I am very determined. My wife was complaining how long I was getting ready for the interviews. I bought all the different study material and all the practice exams I could get my hands on. I know they helped out because I felt ready for all the questions they threw at me and never once had to sit there trying to think of an answer or wishing I would have said something different later on.
This isn't the type of profession to take lightly so neither should the hiring process.

Glad you made it over. This is a job that you can make a comfortable living, but often not get rich doing. However, the job satisfaction is second to none most of the time. Sounds like you have a handle on that aspect. Good luck to you. Make yourself at home and keep us updated on your status.

Yeah definitely not wanting to do this career for the money. If that's what I cared about I wouldn't want to leave the company I work for now but just like mom always said. Money dosen't make you happy and was she ever right.

Hello and welcome aboard from Louisiana.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

Howdy - welcome from Louisiana
make yourself at home, pull up a chair, hang out for a while - this is a great group of folks on the site - and we've had quite a few start out as "going through the process" and get through it - it's fun to watch, and just as exciting for us as it is for ya'll-=Twan007

Glad you made it over! Welcome to the site. I once did like you're doing...was trying to get hired and came to sites just like this. It's an invaluable resource, and it feels great to make friends who you can vent about the process to. That was over 5 years ago for me!
