New to O/R and hello
Hey everyone,
New to the forum, I've been cruising the site for awhile now and figured I needed to join.
A little background on myself - graduated college in '08, been doing finance/estimating for a small commercial construction company for a little over a year now, and in December of '08 I applied to the D.E.A. for a special agent position. Fast forward to July of '09, I receive a letter with a "conditional offer of employment" from the DEA and I've been trying to jump through their hoops as fast as possible to get this gig rolling.
This is pretty much my dream job and I just want to get started ASAP, but as with everything government, its moving kind of slow. I sent in my national security clearance paper work as soon as I got the letter and I'm guessing they are doing the full-blown background check on me now. Not sure how long this process takes but would love to hear from some guys who might already be in it. Look forward to being a regular on here

Welcome aboard ChaseSS. For what it is worth my college internship with the Secret Service background took about eight months. That was when they were under the Treasury Department. Now that Homeland Security covers so many agencies who knows the time frame. The wait will be worth it.

Hello and welcome aboard from Louisiana.
SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM-Ex-Sheriff Martin Howe to Will Kane in "High Noon"
"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
