Hey.
I am new to the forum and currently waiting to be verified. A buddy of mine (Five-O) suggested this forum as a place to discuss LEO related issues with the ability to avoid douchebag forum trolls that like to take out their issues with authority on us from behind an anonymous screen name. I'm really looking forward to getting into the thick of the discussions, so here's to hoping my verification comes through.
Currently, I serve in a multi-jurisdictional drug task force. That will remain true for the next twenty-three days, at which time I will return to the mean streets of suburban Birmingham. (This topic will probably be featured in my first bitch session as I am highly irritated about returning to patrol.)
Thanks for reading and stay safe!

Don't be upset or bitter.
I just left a regional gang unit. After nearly 5 years, it was time to get back to the meat & potatoes of police work. I was burned out. I wasn't having fun anymore. Now, I get to take my training and experience back to the street, and use it. Granted, going back was as much my choice as the fact that the chief decided my time was up.

It's not the fact that I am transferring out, it is the way I am transferring out. A guy, whom I consider a friend, left a huge knife protruding from between my shoulder blades. That being said, I am definitely not the type of guy to bitch and moan about being back on patrol. It's not my style. I love almost all facets of police work, which is why I chose it as a career.
Very sound advice, though. Thanks. I appreciate it."There is no 'nice' way to arrest a potentially dangerous, combative suspect. The police are our bodyguards, our hired fists, batons and guns. We pay them to do the dirty work of protecting us, the work we're too afraid, too unskilled or too civilized to do ourselves. We expect them to keep the bad guys out of our businesses, cars and houses, out of our face. We want them to 'take care of the problem.' We just don't want to see how its done."
