Hello friends, I am Larry Cote of Limington, Maine. Your newest member but surely not the youngest! I first retired from the United States Marine Corps on July 1, 1991 after 20 years service. Within four weeks I was again in uniform as a Deputy with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. Served there until December 30th of 2008. On September 3, 2008 at about 0300 hours after completing a ten hour shift on the road I was finally home. It had been one of those nights when all the nut cases were out and I was so happy to done. Exiting the unit I fell to the ground and was not able to stand for quite some time. Getting old but this is crazy! Booked off for the next evening and went to the local Doctor's office. That's when it hit the fan. Come to find out I had bone cancer in the upper right leg. The damage was great enough to end my working days for good. On a positive note, we have it under control as of this day and praying it stays that way. All my brothers and sisters stop in on a regular basis for coffee during shift and of course the A unit keeps the young ones fed!
I miss working with so many great individuals. Ended up with about 40 years in uniform, time for a break. We are now selling our farm here in Maine and looking to relocate to the Havelock/Newport NC area.
One of my hobbies is playing with fast cars! Many of you will remember that first 94 Caprice 9C1 that came on the street, one fast and fun car. During my time I had a 95 and 96 Caprice. I was hooked. My summer/show vehicle is a 96 Impala SS, of course I have done a few minor modifications to the beast. The drivetrain has been replaced with a 355 built for turbo application, T4 turbo, six speed T56 transmission backed by a set of GM 373 gears. Holding her to the road is a set of 315/34/17 Goodyear Eagles. Car looks nothing less then factory! A few other modifications are as follows, 12 way Bonneyville seats, overhead console, 2005 Corvette shifter, T84 headlights, green silicone 9C1 hoses, 1990 Corvette ZR1 wheels, 61 Impala SS emblems, LS coil package, 52 mm throttle body, 42 pound injectors, Herb Adams suspension, Koni red shocks, more powder coated parts then I can recall and a lazer straight body that was refinished by local Chevrolet dealership.
Well I have been running my lips for long enough, hope to meet some of you and please be safe out there. If ever I can be of help, I am just a message away.
Very respectfully,
Larry
