Hello from Michigan's U.P.
Hello,
My name is John. I currently work for Michigan's Dept of Natural Resourses, Law Division as a Conservation Officer. I am assigned to a county in the Upper Peninsula, which is the part of Michigan above the Mackinaw Bridge that most people don't even know is part on Miichigan
Prior to this I worked as a Sheriff's Deputy and a City Officer down state. I have been in law enforcement going on 15 years now.
Here in Michigan, CO's are fully certified police officers. So we can enforce all state laws. We try to stick to mostly fish & game, orv, snowmobile & marine enforcement. It really is a pretty fun job. The things most people pay too do I get paid too do. I spend my winter 'patroling' on my snowmoblie, my summers on a quad or in a boat and I get to spend more time in the woods than a man should be allowed. It is a very unique cop job.
I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you on this site. So far there has been quite a bit of good & entertaining stuff

I'm in PA and you probably heard that we lost a Fish and Game officer in the line, not too long ago. It was devastating. My uncle and cousins have been Fish and Game officers all of my life. I was the first female in the family to go into LE. We also had some state troopers (including a crazy chopper pilot that dropped the bomb on M.O.V.E. in Philly in 1985...a cousin) and some municipal cops...all guys.
I have great respect for your department, I wouldn't want to be out in the woods with a bunch of people that probably aren't very schooled in the safe use of a firearm and just about every one of them is armed.
My hat's off to you....be well, be safe, and remember....NOT TODAY!
