New guy from Myrtle Beach
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm the new new guy. I am a Corporal with the Horry County Sheriff's Office. Been here since July 2011. Prior to that I was with the Horry County Police Dept in the Warrants Division. Our division in its entirety was transferred to the Sheriff's Office. The County Police here is the last county police dept in the state of South Carolina, so a transition is inevitable. I still am in the warrants division- been doing this type of work for 10 of my 11+ years here. Prior to this, I worked for East Hampton Police Dept. on Long Island in New York. I was a p/t police officer there and was trained thru the Suffolk County Police Academy. I worked full time for Northrop Grumman in NY. Got laid off in May of 1998 and couldnt get back into my engineering field again so I peddled my LE credentials to see where I could work, and Got accdepted in the Horry County Police Dept in Sept. 1999.
Got a wife (2nd) here with two boys, and three girls back on Long Island. I love hunting perps, and that makes the job exciting. The only hobbies I admit to is shooting and performance cars. Got my "toy" in the garage and love driving it on my days off.
This is the first LE site that I've joined. Checked it out and decided this is a good place.

Hello and welcome aboard from Louisiana.
SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM-Ex-Sheriff Martin Howe to Will Kane in "High Noon"
"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.

Hey from Aiken! I used to spend two weeks every summer at Myrtle Beach State Park. Can't say I miss the Grand Strand too much but I spend many an hour (and all my allowance) in the Gay Dolphin a few times.
