New Guy from Iowa
Hey All,
I'm 24 years old and will be graduating this coming May with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. I have wanted to work in law enforcement since I was young, and I have been working towards my degree for the last couple years. I'm excited to finally almost be done with school. I am interested in moving to the Colorado Springs, Denver, or Boulder area this coming summer. I will be applying for law enforcement jobs in these cities and others in the Colorado area. Just wondering if anyone has any advice for the new guy as far as applying moving, cross country, etc?? Also, I am looking to get in touch with someone in the Colorado area who can answer a few of the more detailed questions I have about the area in general.
Thanks for any help,
Elias

welcome...
as far as advice, make sure you're applying at a department that fits what you want. There's a tendancy to just start throwing apps all over the place and take the first job you're offered (and I know LE is competitive as far as hiring, so this part is difficult) but you don't want to be looking around a couple of years after you start for another job.

"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
