Hi and welcome to LEF!

A Smile
A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.

You sound like just the person I want to talk to. I've been looking on the net at Tyler/Whitehouse area as a place to retire. What all can you tell me about it, crime, housing and etc.

Tyler is a beautiful place. It’s most famous for it’s Tyler Roses that they have a festival for every year. They have a few old style mansions there that are wonderful to go through. Housing is about average priced for a Med to large town & depending on if you are going to buy or rent. My land lord has some property there & for a 3/2 House I think he is getting $ 750 for it.

I live 76 miles from there & it’s nothing for us to do a wonderful Day trip there for shopping. They have 3 Wal-Mart’s. When the newest one opened a year ago a lady was kidnapped & killed by her boyfriend from there 3 months after it opened. I think they are building another one to replace an older one there. They have great shopping there.
There is a wonderful lake not too far from there. It called Big Sandy. It is absolutely beautiful. It has great boating & fishing. Beautiful camp sites too.
Hope this helps. If you need more info let me know…

Yes that helps, thank you. I want to make a trip down and see things first hand. My father isn't well so we can't the the area right away but I would still love to do a vacation trip there and have a good look around. Looks like you can pick up a pretty nice home in the $150K-$200K area.
