Just joined yesterday. I am currently on night shift(0000-0800). I have worked in the jail for four years now and am crossing over to P.D. now. I applied to LACS,LAPD however I have yearned to go back east where I belong, so now am applying back there. I am testing in three places in January.

My dance card is really full, got Carlsbad on the 29th and I go East three times in January. It all boils down to funds available. But thanks for the info.

Thanks, i'll take all I can get. LACS just called for me to finish up with prelims last Friday, however I am going to tell them I am seeking elsewhere. A recent article in Officer.com said they were down a thousand recruits and the minimum time all the new people were doing in the jails was five to eight years, or there abouts.

I want to be on the streets not stuck in the jails. I need to be outdoors and interacting with the community. I do not know how some of the Sheriffs do that.

I will never trade my time in the Corrections field, I have learned alot and dealing one on one with the people I come into contact with every day has taught me the utmost sense of self discipline, however I came into this field knowing that my final destination was going to be a Police Officer, so now I am trying to fulfill that obligation I made to myself way back when.
