The Memphis Police Department doesn't use Palm pilots, but uses Ipaq PDA's and the like from verizon wireless, complete with a wireless thermal printer for printing tickets out for violators, NCIC and local checks can be run using the PDA's, and various reports including crash reports can all be completed and wirelessly submitted all on the pda.
I don't have any info on who you should specifically talk to though. Maybe one of the other Memphis guys on here may, or I can get it for you if your not asking specifically for the Palm.
If you are only looking for Palm specific info, then:
to LEF, sorry I can't help you any.

We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

Just curious...why exactly are you looking for all this info?
My mother is a school teacher, and the shcool has issued a palm pilot to her. Over the weekend I was playing with it, and thought of some possible ideas, that it may be used for. But if there aren't an overwhelming number of Agencies using it, then my ideas must not be realistic, or else everybody else would have gone to this. At this present time, my agency does not have the benefit of Computers in the cars, therefore, I'm looking for any tool to assist us.

welcome.
we just got the ipaqs. we use them for accidents and are in the process of using them for citations and tow sheets "shortly" but you know how state orginizations are.
In memory of Carlos Borland.
Trooper Borland was shot and killed when he stopped a car on I-80, just outside of Lovelock, Nevada, whose driver was wanted for not paying for gasoline. Unbeknownst to Trooper Borland, the suspect had just murdered two people in Texas and the vehicle was stolen. Before stopping the vehicle Trooper Borland had requested a check on the plates, but the plates had not yet been entered into NCIC. As he approached the vehicle the man pulled out a .38 caliber handgun and shot him in the head.
The suspect was apprehended later that day. He was convicted of Trooper Borland's murder and sentenced to death.
Trooper Borland had served with the agency for 1 year.

We only have computers in our cars. Some have the ancient Toughbooks with Windows 98, but they're being replaced before Christmas with brand new computers with separate touchscreens and keyboards (I don't know the brand...). Some of our newer cars already have those, and they're great

Hola. We have Toughbooks in the car, and I have a Blackberry (department issued) that runs names plates and so on. It is still part of a pilot program but it is nice. I carry my own pda and I have all of the Illinois and Chicago Codes/Laws as well as the 65 million general orders, special orders, department notices, bulletins, complaints and so on, in it.
