Detroit Veterans Affairs Police
The Detroit V.A. is seeking qualified applicants who do not use crayon to fill out an application. We are currently reviewing a "batch" of applications and keep hitting dead ends. If anyone is interested in a career with the V.A. PLEASE p.m. me and I will assist you in the application process. Or you can go to the OPM web site at http://www.opm.gov/ and find out more information. ANY Police or Law Enforcement experience is preferred but after looking at these apps that H.R. gave out, it's not required. This is not an official job announcement, just trying different recruiting avenues.

I bought a doughnut and they gave me a receipt for the doughnut... I don't need a receipt for the doughnut. I give you money and you give me the doughnut, end of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this. I can't imagine a scenario that I would have to prove that I bought a doughnut. To some skeptical friend, Don't even act like I didn't buy a doughnut, I've got the documentation right here... It's in my file at home. ...Under "D".

Do you take applications filled out with a purple Crayola marker?

I met a couple of V.A. police in D.C. last week. Interesting bunch. The physical security gig didn't sound too tempting, but fraud investigation sounded a little better.
Still a good benefit package, etc. Feds have always had that over us peons...

I hate to say it, but yeah, we are glorified security guards. We are technically Police when the need arises, but most of the time its opening doors, helping people find their cars, etc.. It is a great way to get into the Federal system. Most people stay around for a while, become career conditional, then splitsville to a better paying fed job. I must be a little slower then I thought because I'm still here after 6 years..... By the way, we're not all an "interesting bunch" some people higher then me just don't have the right ? In this profession, most of us fit into the category of "interesting bunch".
And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

I dont take anything in negative connobigwordtation. In this profession everyone has a weirdo, slacker, hard charger, super cop, etc... It just so happens that I fall into a good portion of those. (not the slacker, I think) I have heard alot from the V.A.'s around the country, and have met a lot of them. Interesting bunch does describe us, I guess....

Two questions:
1) Will they match my current federal pay grade (GS 11-2)?
2) Is it a covered (6c) position?

Depending on your qualifications, you either start out as a GS-5 or 6. Here is the link for the pay tables.

So no, unless you're getting the Asst. Chiefs job, you will not come in as a GS-11. I would recommend staying where you're at. But that's just me.....
Sorry Donut, but we can't wait around for you to finish making sandcastles. We have decided to replace you with a drunkin monkey to ensure he does not get "employee of the month" in his first month here!"History will be kind to me for I intend to write it."Winston Churchill

He may like you more (suck ass) but he likes me because I can spell. Remember I before E except when Dick decides to do it different.
