Miami Gardens PD
We are hiring 24 more officers by October 1. Must be certified for a minimum of 1 year full-time. Take a look at the website, all the benefits and incentives will include anyone hired before November 1, including the signing bonus and the moving expenses.

How well are you guys supported by the Mayor and the City Council? An academy classmate of mine was "hired" by MGPD last year but chose not to take the job.

The Mayor is a former MDPD Officer and they have supported us 125%....really. The City Manager is pro cop and they love the results we have produced so far. Major crime is down 11% since we took over. Auto theft is down around 9%, they have told us to continue with what were doing and this being very proactive.
We have some officers that do nothing but complain and think it sucks here. This is because things change, its a brand new dept and you have officers from all over. SO they are trying different ways of doing things, this causes some policies or procedures to change. To me this is to be expected for the first year or so.
Plus the oprotunities here in the next 5-6 years is better than anywhere I know. Most of the Capt's and above, plus alot of the Sgt's are either retired or almost retired from other Dept.'s.
