The catch is you have to work for the FBI.
Dude, can I steal your avatar for another site? That rocks!!
So the First Bunch of Idiots are hiring huh???? Good luck with that.
Why are you guys beating up on the fbi?
Possibly because they are often arrogant and condescending...
We can't do our job without local law enforcement. They can do without us.
Former ASAIC of a Field Office for the Secret Service.
I considered the gentleman that made that statement as one of my mentors. I interned with the Secret Service in college. He is now in charge of a state law enforcement agency.
They have been known to "Assist" in an operation, then claim the credit if it goes good and blame the locals if it goes bad "We were only assisting local law enforcement".
Interesting, but for some reason I've never had any interest going federal.
I thought that this being a law enforcement site folks would know the job postings should be law enforcement related. Don't make me issue infractions for violating TOS.
:D
I don't like the FBI because they won't hire any agents over 39 years old (or whatever the cutoff is), regardless of previous LE experience, supposedly because of their damn retirement program, which is the flimsiest excuse I've ever heard of. I think that includes all the sworn desk investigative jobs too. About the only workers they don't discriminate against are civilian contractors.
If a private company practiced that level of age descrimination for such a correctable detail as retirement policy, and flatly refused to accomidate employees over an arbitrary cutoff date (even those in top physical condition with decades of LE experience), then the officers of that company would all be in jail and fined till they bled.
So it seems that we all have our own reasons to hate the FBI.
Not to burst your bubble Chuck, but there are lots and lots and lots of agencies that won't hire above a certain age...my agency (and most in Oklahoma) won't hire past 39 or 40 (not sure of the exact age) because they wouldn't be eligible for the State police pension board requirements.
Charlie , I 'm pretty sure that age cutoff is for all federal law enforcement positions, not just the FBI because you have to have a minimum of 20 years to retire in the fedreral system and there is a mandatory retirement age of 59 for federal law enforcement. At least that's how it worked years ago when I considered working for the best federal law enforcement agency, the U.S. Marshals.
