Job Description
The Maryland-National Capital Park Police was founded in 1953; it has grown into a diverse police department with an authorized strength of 102 sworn officers and 25 civilian staff members. The Park Police is an internationally accredited law enforcement agency.(CALEA). The agency was awarded this prestigious recognition by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Agencies, Inc. The Park Police secures and protects over 23,000 acres of park property in Prince George's County, Maryland on a 24-hour basis through the prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals and enforcement of criminal and motor vehicle laws of the state, and enforcement of park regulations.
