I'm not too sure of my next step and where I want to go now. But, I'll figure it out soon.

We have a problem with man power here in Chicago, our fine city would rather pay 24 million for a giant bean in the middle of a park, 300,000 tulips up and down Michigan Avenue, medians that were put in that house flowers and trees (allowing the bad guys to get away seeing we have to drive 1 block to get around the thing), and for some reason the numbers are just down. When my pops took the test in the 70's there were 32000 applicants, and when my mother took the test in the 80's there were 35000 applicants. Now, we are lucky to get 5,000.

Here, South Gate PD needs one more officer to work with LAUSD officers. I didn't know that this city is gettin' worse with those kids. Usually, whenever I hear sirens, I thought it's the criminals who rob, harm, etc...my mouth just dropped that SGPD is working now with the LAUSD's. Hmmmmm.... I'll check the website information. *scratching head*

We don't pay for the academy but we drop close to 5500-6000 for all of our equipment. I hear now the only thing issued to the recruits is their star. I am sure they will charge for that to sooner or later.

Nc is a good spot to go for a job right now. Lots of departments with openings, including state spots.

05-29-06, 12:02 PM #54I again say, You should apply to Dallas - I'm pretty sure they pay while you're in the academy, plus they're paying a $6,000 academy entry bonus, $4k after 18 months, and they need 200 recruits by October! Plus they'll work your tail off on the streets.

You know... All this about all the other states in the country desperately looking to fill positions... And we don't hear anything about New Jersey. Not like there's much to see here anyway lol. But it is pretty hard to get a job here in law enforcement from what I've noticed. It's so competitive over here. Unless you do extremely well on the civil service test, the best bet here is to do "Alternate Route" and put yourself through the academy.
Anyway hopefully soon I'll be out of NJ and be somewhere in CA, as soon as I finish my Associates Degree (need 2 more classes to finish).
(I work as a communications officer/dispatcher right now here in Joisey).
