I've been in Valdez during a big dump and the company truck I was driving (a Chevy 1-ton Crew Cab diesel) would push snow when I opened the doors.

I've also been blown by the wind into the other lane going over Thompson Pass. Visibility was maybe 100 feet and 60-70 mph winds.

Snowmachines (snowmobiles to you southerners) are popular in Valdez.

Way 2 cold up there brother. I watched a show on the History Channel about the Alaska State Police and how they operate up there. It's amazing to me the fortitude of the law enforcement in those conditions. Do they even issue short sleeve uniforms up there?? Haaa

Yup. They wear the short sleeves during any heat wave that gets the temp north of 20 degrees.
