That's messed up - Are you TCLEOSE?
If you REALLY want to get mad, read the Plano salaries - SWEET but naturally very hard to get in:
http://www.planopolice.org/Employmen...20SALARIES.pdf
(No I don't think $47,102 per year for recruits & $63k for street cops after 3 years is a misprint, and that doesn't include overtime or bonuses for career milestones). Almost too sweet - I'm jealous too

Lateral's must attend a 16 week academy instead of the normal 32 weeks. My academy was 23 weeks. No way I am doing another 16 weeks. My girlfriend has been trying to convince me to move to TX in a few years too.

Charlie I'm thinking of applying with DPD reserves too when I move back to the area. I'm really encouraged that the chief backs the program.

Great!!! Maybe I'll meet you over there if my knee ever heals up!!!
I had a scope on it in Feb to clean out some torn cartlege, but my latest MRI shows another tear, so looks like I get to do it all over again

Charlie, do you know much about the part-time Reserve academy? Is it DPD's own academy or do they put you somewhere else? I understand it takes about a year.

No, I've just filled out the survey & got a email response from them. Here's their DPD Reserve web site:
http://www.dpdreserves.org/
Also a few other links I've collected, that you may be interested in around here;
http://www.cityofdenton.com/pages/dp...onsreserve.cfm

http://www.cor.net/pd/PDReserves.html
http://www.fortworthpd.com/reserve.htm (if it throws errors, stay away from the top row of buttons)

DPD Reserves said their physical requirements have been relaxed so I should be ok once my knee heals & I work off some more blubber in the gym. However, Richardson said their standards are very high. Not sure about teh Sheriffs' reserves, but a guy that manufactures my bullets is a recruiter for Dallas Sheriff's reserves, and seemed positive when I talked to him about it at one of our shooting matches. Their big thing is passing a polygraph for drug use
