Advice on out of state PD's
Hello, I have been currently doing alot of research on PD's im going to start putting in applications for. I've been finding places out of state since right now its almost impossible to get a LE job in Michigan. I have narrowed it down and if anyone could give me some advice on if they heard good things about any the of the departments, or advantages or disadvantages to work at any of these, thanks alot much appreciated, the list is
Boulder Colorado PD
Los Angeles Sherrifs Department
Las Vegas Metro Department
Nashville Metro Department
New York State Police
if anyone has any other suggestions for other PD's I should look into would be good to, im looking to start in a bigger city where I can gain experience fast. Thank you

Stay out of Boulder unless you like weed-smokin', soldier-hatin', God-smearin', multi-sexual, Bush-bashers. That is one WIERD town! Don't know squat about the rest. Good luck.

I am near LASD. My next door neighbor is an LASD Sheriff. Keep in mind there are MANY stations within LA Sheriff. You definitely gain experience in LA lol I hear it is a great place to start and they are hiring. I believe they have a pretty large sign-on bonus too. Cost of living here just sucks though...so something to keep in mind. Riverside Sheriff is hiring like crazy and may be a place to start if you are considering coming to CA. Get foot in the door and then move elsewhere if you want. Good Luck!

DC metro. And they are VERY good with out of state applicants. You do need 60 college credits to apply though.

If you're willing to live out here in "No Man's Land", the bennies are nice. Pay sucks (about 12-15 to start) but places like North Platte, NE are giving a $5,000 sign-on bonus for a three year contract. The schools are nice and you can get a decent two-bedroom house for $400/month. Something to think about.

You can check out Fresno P.D. We are always hiring. Little over 1/2 million population, crime rate is pretty high. So if you want a fast crazy ride, come on over! http://www.fresno.gov/fpd/

MPDC, Prince Georges county Maryland, Montgomery county Maryland all hire a lot of officers. You can apply online to all three.

Probably talking about the pay to cost-of-living ratio. That is very important when you apply for any job................

Oops yea sorry about that, ment apartments not departments, Thanks again for all the responses again, glad i stumbled along this site, lots of helpful people =), I currently just finished my semester with 60 credits and around 3.4 gpa, was thinking about just going 2 more years and finishing my bachelors but not sure how much difference it makes in law enforcement.
And yea saving is a big deal to me, just want to make sure I join a PD where I can pay bills with no problem and keep a little saved up off to the side.
