Am I just dreaming?

I would like to re-locate to the western area, more specifically the Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada area. I may be dreaming but the questions are this.

I would like to find an area that there isn't a real big change in weather from summer to winter, at least where winter isn't to cold. I had enough of this stuff growing up in VT.

I would also like a City dept. in an area around 30,000-80,000 population. Or a good Sheriff's Office with-out population restrictions.

And finally one that pays decent for the cost of living, and will possibly accept out of state experience with out having to go back through the whole academy again.

So is this just a pipe dream, or does it exist??

North Vegas is big on lateral's I hear. About a 350-400 man department. Summer goes from hot to warm in winter. I also believe they have an abbreviated academy. Also starting pay is excellent 49k a year i believe.

Try Omaha, Nebraska.........Lincoln, Nebraska...........or Fort Collins, Colorado.........Colorado Springs, Colorado.....All beautiful towns and lots of action for cops. I prefer the smaller towns because of raising my kids. But if I was single I would check those out. Mild winters and there's only about two weeks of really hot stuff. Almost no humidity though compared to what you're used to. You may be surprised that you can tolerate the cold a lot easier when the humidity is low. Check these places out on the web...lateral tranfers seem to be cool, pay seems to be cool, and besides....anyone west of the East Coast is just way COOL! Peace and be safe!:boink:

If you haven't found a job yet, I would highly recommend looking at the Phoenix Police Department. It seems to have everything you are looking for, including the good weather, good pay, great benefits; you'd also be working for the City of Phoenix. Additionally, I hear they're aggressively hiring rihgt now, and there are some great lateral incentives.

I've had a really great time so far, love the people, and would highly recommend this department to anybody!
