I may be moving to Lakeland, FL in a couple of months. If anyone lives or works in that area, and could PM me with some info such as LE or Security openings, area info, etc., I would appreciate it. I would also like some info on becoming LE certified in the state of Florida. I am currently part-time certified in Mississippi.

I thought you were Chief. I know Oakland's small, but you're only Part time? Yikes.

FL I believe has a pretty good lateral transfer acceptance from other states, I know of some from Tn that have gone down there, I'm sure MS training would be accepted as well. I'm not sure on specifics though.

I resigned as Chief of Oakland last month due to conflicts with the mayor and Board of Aldermen. The only reason they wanted the police department back up is so they could continue to get grant money. Plus I got sick of the law not applying to certain people if they were related to certain people, if you know what I mean.
I was going to get full time certified, but sent one of my officers to get part time certified first since he was the only one on the force with no certification.
I got my old job back as a deputy sheriff, and I am also a part time patrolman in my hometown. More money, less headache.

Countryboy is in Lakeland. I know they have openings....have a relative in the force....he is constantly trying to get my husband to come work for Polk County.

Yeah, New Tampa Highway and Wabash Ave. Great place to find drugs. I do it all the time.

My fiance is from Lakeland. It's a long story about how we met, but she is ready to move back and wants me to go with her. I went down there with her once and liked the area.
The plan is, she is going back next month to get a house, and as soon as I get my business taken care of here I will join her there. Then we plan on tying the knot.
