If it's free, it's for me!
You can find a lot of freebies in your area or good deals on used items on Craig's List.
Also, you might want to check to see if there are any Yahoo Freecycle groups in your area. Everything that people give away are FREE.
There's one here that I use in Delaware County (PA) and you'd be amazed at some of the stuff people give away. A lot of times, people are moving and don't want to take the stuff with them or don't want to throw the stuff away, so they just list the items online and there's always good stuff up for grabs.
And if you have things you no longer need but don't want to throw away, it's a good way to help someone in need.
Just an FYI.

Be careful with Craigs List. Just this month we had a few people robbed at gunpoint showing up with cash to buy *items* listed on here. Was all a set-up.

Alot of people looking to hook up in a ......well.....physical way.....and then get kidnapped and raped. Craig's list has a lot of scum folk on there and usually outnumber the good.
I'm ready for spring!

I should be preching to the choir here:
Don't accept money orders for large items you sold to somebody over 3000 miles away on Craigs List. Why would someone in Texas buy a bed from someone in Oregon, offer 2x the asking price, and then send an extra $1500.00. Somebody is going to get porked in the deal."You will learn more with your ears than you will your mouth!"

I'm looking for a dryer, as mine is on its last leg, and I have been looking to find a reasonable one on Craig's List locally. I've never had a problem dealing with anyone on CL before, either with a free item or anything I've bought.
When I was looking for a kitten to give my cat a companion, I ended up taking two kittens home instead. I found them through CL and they are my babies. I'm just glad I saw the ad.
And I have no interest in any other parts of the website. I just look for things I need, and a date isn't one of them. I'm very happy with my boyfriend.

I bought an aquarium off of CL. Didn't have any problems, but I did go with a friend and a firearm when I went to pick it up.
