Result of a US Marine Sniper and his Barrett 50 Caliber (WARNING - GREWSOME NWS!!!)
EDIT: Story Confirmed Inaccurate but pictures real - Soldier is Kosovo, insurgent believed killed in Mosul by the Iraqi National Guard (see PersiusOne's post below... Thanks PersiusOne, and way t'go Iraqi National Guard!!!
)
This is from an email I received from a friend today... I have no way of knowing if the story or photos are authentic, but looks about right. I might have expected more from a .50 BMG, because part of the head is left.
This is a highly trained Army sniper with his Barrett 50 caliber rifle. His job is to protect the "Green Zone" in Baghdad, Iraq (basically his job is prevent the sheet-heads from sneaking into the compound).

Anyway, one day Achmed snuck into the perimeter and got tagged from 1500 yards out before he could do any mischief. Note the vest laden with explosives! Achmed won't be doing this shit anymore...he learned his lesson.

on his wearing his sidearm. "Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you
expecting trouble?" "No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have
brought my rifle."

And when asked if he felt anything while killing that person, he said recoil.

AHHH - but there IS a way to tell (usually) if something like that is legit. I use www.snopes.com.
This is from http://www.snopes.com/photos/gruesome/greenzone.asp:
"The two photographs that accompany the e-mail are unrelated. At this point, it appears a prankster put them together with a fabricated background story.
The soldier pictured in the top photo is a member of the 28th Infantry Division (Mechanized) of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. The picture was snapped not in Iraq (where this serviceman has yet to serve) but Kosovo, specifically, just outside Camp Bondsteel. The young man is not a sniper but a Signal Systems Support Specialist.
He has housed a number of photographs of himself on the Web, many of him toting or firing rather impressive looking weapons. The snapshot in question is listed under "Weapons" as "Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifle - M82A1."
Those who are sharp of eye had already noted the KFOR (Kosovo Force) insignia that was clearly visible and that the serviceman pictured was wearing a uniform with a woodland camouflage pattern (rather than desert fatigues), which did prove all along that the top photo did not match the story being given about it.
(The "Green Zone," more formally known as the International Zone, is the heavily-guarded area of closed-off streets in central Baghdad where U.S. occupation authorities live and work.)
We have an unconfirmed report that the second photo depicts an insurgent killed in Mosul by the Iraqi National Guard on 8 December 2004. The dead man, we're told, had been one of seven enemy combatants (not suicide bombers) ordered to emerge unarmed from a mosque in that city. They resisted, and all were killed. "

Not surprised... I never completely believe anything that comes from the Internet from unknown sources... Edit made. Thanks!
That's just like the sniper video which supposedly depicts snipers shooting Taliban off mountains in Afghanistan with a Barrett 50 Caliber, and shows the bodies hurling through the air.
What the video ACTUALLY is: A highly-edited version of a hunting video of hunters shooting rock sheep off cliffs, not with a .50 BMG, but with a super-magnum hunting rifle.
After searching Google, I found the web site that sells the tape, which was mentioned in a military forum where solders were talking about it being fake.
That same web site also has some pretty sick videos of "hunters" (and I use the term loosely) shooting little bunny rabbits at close range with a super-mag. Sick, sick, sick.... I don't know why anyone would be entertained by an innocent little bunny rabbit exploding, just for shits and grins. There's really nothing left to even eat. I know they probably didn't feel any pain, but I'd still call it cruelty.
I have friends who shoot prairie dogs (otherwise known as BPUT's (Biodegradable Pop-Up Targets) at long range for no particular reason other than to see the red mist, but they don't film it and jack off to it like those guys selling the video act like they do.Last edited by TXCharlie; 01-23-07 at 10:35 AM.

Is this just a general picture of a sniper? If you look in the backround you will see that the landscape is not very Iraq like. The trees have no leaves and the vehicle has KFOR on it. I think KFOR was a task force in Bosnia.

I've seen this on the web before. The two things that tipped me that it was a fake: 1) That IS NOT Iraq in the background. Been there, done that and that is not Iraq. 2) This kid looks way too happy too be a sniper. Anyone who has seen combat has the "thousand yard stare", not the "five foot smile" like this wanna-be.
