Haha, I read about this in a Norwegian newspaper. Both parties were using water cannons on each other.
Last time they went on strike here I did a 12 hr night shift escorting the army tenders who were standing in for them.
The whole county got two calls all shift.
Police incidents, that were logged, ran at around 800.
Still got a good nights kip on double time so it wasn't all bad!
What the hell has this world come to when Police and Firemen litterally fight!?!?!
When the Police use the equipment they have (water cannon) it's in the performance of their duty. I don't think it should be legal for the Firemen to use their equipment in an attack against the Police that are in the performance of a lawful duty. That's governemnt owned equipment they are using in the protest to attack the cops. What would the media say if cops all suited up in riot gear when they weren't happy and lobbed a few tear gas grenades or popped a few rounds off at the government entity they were protesting.....
I see their side with the protest, but when the firemen want to take it up a notch and physically fight the police IT'S FUHKING CRAZY!!!
Well on a good note, story says 300 Police held off 2000 Firefighters,,, Grin, kinda tells you something huh..... HEHEE;)
I can't complain about our firemen. Most of the fire personnel in my county are volunteers, with only the county seat having full time firemen. In the village I work part time, the fire department invites the police department to an appreciation dinner every year. In fact, I've had a couple of volunteer firemen help me out when there was problems.
