I don't care that she doesn't know what a barrel shroud is. Fact is, I am a realist. Senators and Representatives on a whole have -0- technical knowlege about firearms. That which they might know only consists of that which they are told by their staffers at a lunch briefing.
Here's my big issue. The Divine Ms. McCarthy (and her cheerleaders) state that the purpose for introduction of this legislation is 'for the protection of police officers'. If indeed it were, (and these anti-intellectuals did a little homework for the exhorbidant benefits they recieve as members of Congress), they would be livid about banning handguns of calibers 9mm or less, which are statistically ( http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/killed/2005/table34.htm ) the most-used firearms by those who kill police. What does a forward pistol grip have to do with 99% of pistols in this category?
Do I think small-caliber handguns should be banned? Of course not. My point is that the legislation introduced by the esteemed professor McCarthy has nothing to do with the protection of police, and more to do with the furtherance of McCarthy's own party agenda.
Ms. McCarthy... you are either completely ignorant, or you are an outright liar. I would venture to call you both.

Ms. McCarthy and the others make my blood boil. It drives me nuts that they call this the police protection act. It doesn't protect us. We are rarely attacked with assault weapons. You ban every gun and the criminals with still have them and the law abiding citizens will be defenseless. A lot of our shootings involve revolvers so there are not any shell casings to link the criminal to the crime.
