Nifty, good instruction. Not sure about the the pulling out tissue parts (hard to tell how attached they still were), but the draining sure makes sense.
EDIT: Was writing during the worm part. Grip and rip!

i have seen some really nasty brown recluse spider bites on horses that would come to my farm for treatment.
one lost almost all the flesh on the inside thigh of its rear leg....
i have pictures but it would take a while to get them posted....
nasty stuffhttp://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

ok here you go...
this is the leg prior to cleaning

this is the leg after cleaning. the horse ended up losing a lot more tissue.

this is a foot that had multiple spider bites.. the horse lost the foot but after a year of treatment she grew one back and was healthy again.

i ended up having to cut off all the flesh around the exterior of the hoof itself... once that was cleaned up the holes went into the foot itself.
the external hoof wall separated from the interior wall and fell off... leaving the exposed internal bones (coffin and navicular bones)
I had her suspended on a track from the ceiling in my rehab stall for 9 months. The track allowed her to move slightly and I could control the amount of weight the foot sustained.
she eventually grew a new hoof wall out of the coronet band and is rideable again and takes no medication.
believe me it was a LONG tiring friggin year of bandages and care, but worth it.
She also had a great mellow attitude for healing which helped her a lot.http://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl

"Not for weak of stomach"
I wish I paid more attention to that line.
