Rememberance Day
Today in the UK is remeberance day.
A day set aside to remeber all those that have given service to the country in times of war.
At 1100hrs on the 11 day of the 11th month.
The symbol of this day is the poppy.
A flower found on the fields of france the site of so much carnage in the !st world war.
I took a couple of Pictures when I went down to pay nmy respects earlier. Our town has two memorials and at both wreaths of remeberance are laid.

the sole advantage of power is that you can do more good.

That statue of the Tommy with the Lee-Enfield defines the spirit of the British people. So few Americans know what the British people suffered during the first and second world wars and how bravely they stood against the Germans.
I wish the French were more grateful for what they got....between the Brits and the Yanks, we gave them back their country.

The great soldiers lament, "Tommy" by Rudyard Kipling pretty much says it all about a soldiers life but it could also be said that it covers the life of a police officer too.
I know of no soldier, or police officer for that matter, who doesn't like Kipling. Try him sometime.

To my fellow countryman who can't spell Remembrance!

Never approach a bull by the front, a horse from behind, or an idiot from any direction.
