That is a high velocity projectile hit on the bullet proof glass. Given the background, I would guess it is a 7.62x45 round from a Dragunov sniper rifle.

AK-47 sniper rifle variant if I'm not mistaken. Cheap and fairly accurate.

Thats the part that struck me (again, if it was real)

They were laughing about something that would make me shit my drawers.

It struck me, because it shows that things that would impact your average person greatly, become 'normal,' after enough exposure. (which is true whether or not the video is real)

Pretty close. The AK-47 uses the 7.62x39 round, which is pretty anemic as a sniper round.

The Snayperskaya vintovka Dragunova shoots the heavier 7.62x54R, not the x45. Sort of the equivalent Russian cartridge to our .308 or 7.62x51 in NATO speak.

It was designed by Evegeny Dragunov, not Kalashnikov, but they are very similar weapons. It is also - or was - licensed for production in Iraq.

In all seriousness, I have been told if one was setting a sniper rifle that route would be cheaper than most.?.

It would be, but you would never get the accuracy you would find out of an M1A1 or a bolt gun.

The neat thing about the SVD is it turns out pretty decent accuracy with even cheap Russian ammunition.
