Deer suicide
So there I was, minding my own business on the interstate when all of a sudden I experience a flash of fur, flesh, and antlers... and the $500 deductible doesn't include the venison stew I don't get to enjoy!! (Sorry for the crappy quality from my old cell phone... a rare time that I left the digital camera at the house!)
Bastard took out the whole side of the car. Surprisingly, no glass was broken. (Impact folded back the mirror, but I put it back in place to drive off the interstate.)
Looking at the left front fender.
Side view of same fender.

Kinda hard to tell but this is the view of the hood, looking at it from near the A pillar.
Left rear door.

Left side.
The left rear side of the rear bumper.
The true measure of your character is what you choose to do when you think no one is looking.

Glad you're ok. If they find the deer, send me the backstrap.

I'm glad your alright. It would be kind of embarassing for a copper to be taken out by Bambi.

I personally know of 2 cops that totaled their squads on deer. They, (the deer) really aren't much smarter than a cow: They are just faster. (They don't taste as good, either!) I almost nailed one on my way home from work yesterday in my POV. It would have been the third one!

Glad to hear you were not injured, you were indeed lucky. One of the bloodiest wrecks I worked involved a large buck jumping off a bank and landing on the hood of a passing car. When he fell over he went through the windshield and was still very active inside the vehicle.
The vehicle ran off the road and was stopped by thick brush.
None of the three occupants died but it took several hours and lots of cat-gut at the ER to stitch up those three. The buck was kicking and struggling to get out the entire time.
