Shazam (Listens to music playing on a radio and tells you the title and artist info and saves it for later.)
    Layar (Just check it out.)
CallTrack (syncs your call history with your Gmail Calendar)
DirecTV (If you have a DirecTV DVR the app will let you search for and program your DVR)
Fandango (Movie searches and purchase tickets)
Google Sky Map (Labels stars, planets and constellations when you hold your phone up to the sky)
IMDb (the Internet Movie Database app)
MixZing (music app for your MP3s, automatically downloads album art and creates playlists based on what you play)
    PayPal app
Ringdroid (uses your MP3's on your phone and creates ringtones and alerts)
Rosary app for us Catholic boys
    Titanium Backup (for rooted phones)
WeFi Connect (for finding, connecting, and managing WiFi hotspots)
WhatZip (GPS and mapping to figure out what zip code you are in. I like this at work where we have mulitple zip codes and we need to enter in the right one in reports.)
    Twitter or Tuitteur for Twittering
    Facebook for Android
    ShopSavvy and Barcode scanner

Skyfire browser will play flash videos from webpages. How is this possible without Flash and Android 2.2? Skyfire servers stream the video and then convert it to HTML 5.0 and send it to your phone.

drugs.mobi is a website, hit it in your browser. Sites ending with .mobi should be optimized for phone browsers.

I am looking for several apps.

    1) one that will identify pills

    2) one that I can use to password protect photos

    3) one that I can make documents, and password protect them. I also would like to be able to store my credit card number but have it password protected.

    4) and any cool games

Bookmark drugs.mobi in your browser. Last I looked there was no app yet for Android.

Most games will be free for a basic version but you're gonna have to pay for anything decent.

    Robo Defense is good.

I'm not aware of any password protection for photos. Under Menu > Location and Security : enable PIN lock or set an unlock pattern.

The Unlock Pattern will keep your phone locked once it's asleep. You have to trace the unlock pattern to open up the phone. That's quick and easy way to password protect the phone.

If you figure out the CC thing let me know. Here's this Visa app:

Credit Card Alert App | Android Tapp

    also:

Another vote for RoboDefense. The only thing I have paid for on my Droid.

I've always thought the state should write an IPhone/BB/Android/notebook PC app to run DL's and tags, so agencies that don't have data terminals in their cars can get quick returns during a traffic stop.

Our traffic stops were often over by the time Dispatch came back with the returns, plus they'd close our only radio channel everytime someone did a building search or had some other high-risk thing going on, which would sometime last an hour. One time we had to chase a car down twice, once for speeding and again after their return came back 15 minutes later with warrants, which was about 3 minutes after we finally let the car go.

I contacted the state a couple of times about writing an app myself for my notebook and just downloading the db once a day if nothing else, and it went all the way up to the records dept head. But, his conclusion was that they couldn't do it unless the Legislature passed a law allowing it, and he would fight any attempt to do anything like that.

I guess security and tracability is the problem, but not an insurmountable problem with the encryption available today, which could not only encrypt any downloaded data, but also provide for personal keys and even a little $100 fingerprint scanner so the officer could just touch the scanner to have quick access to access it without having to type in his personal encryption key every time, thus making it secure even if the phone or laptop is lost or stolen. I think they thought I was crazy to even suggest such a thing, even though it would probably be more secure than the current data terminals that richer agencies have.

But, I guess I'm way off the subject of what's ACTUALLY available.

Hey Chuck, that was a great Android related post! You had a lot of great Android related information in there!

    Oh wait.
