Lessons in truck driving. Chapter 1: A GPS is not an absolute. There's generally a setting designating routes for cars and trucks. Pick trucks. If you don't, please use common sense, and eye sight.

First round of the winter storm hitting our area last night.







What you see on the roadway is not snow. We've had nothing but ice and freezing rain since it started.




The highway guys are actually plowing ice with their blades.

After several days of snow last week and this weekend, we got severe thunderstorms all night last night. I've heard we got as much as three inches of rain last night. That, coupled with the melting snow left us with water, and a lot of it.


The vehicle below pulled in to Wal Mart and didn't see the water, she tried to back out but the water took her deeper. This happened before my shift and the driver was pulled out by O/R's own k9king and one of my other partners before becoming completely submerged. By the time I came on and took the pic the water had gone down for a bit before rising again.

One of the low lying streets in town. 30 minutes before this was taken I had passed and there was only a small trickle coming from the manhole cover



I'm actually coming down a grade into a valley in the bottoms. I'm even with the water level, but on a dry day have quite a ways to drive before being on level ground. The boats in the pic are on trailers, but the straps let go. They're anchored in place by the trailers.



Another down grade into the parking lot for our pool and one of the water plants. The yellow building is a private group home facility for psych patients. It was evacuated.

And finally from our water treatment facility looking towards the business district it sits near. The drive is elevated several feet, but the water is close to even with the driveway

Nice pics, hope it doesn't get any worse. They are saying that we are going to have the worst spring floods on record this year...not looking forward to spring at all!

Don't worry Pudge, we have hurricane season approaching in a few months. The entire Gulf Coast will look like that. We're due for a big cane, since we ain't had one in a few years.

Ha. I've been back in there on patrol requests for speeders and have asked every security guard I meet about the guy I dealt with that day. So far I've gotten:

1 "He's different"
3 "He's an asshole"

Thing is I only ask about a guy named _______ and give his first name. They give me his full name back. Guy has following, I'll give him that.
