Girl puts her 12-year-old brother on sale for $1,200 on Craigslist, leading police on statewide search
But one teenage girl in Florence, Alabama, became so fed up with hers that she hatched a plan to sell him on Craigslist for $1,200 (£750).
The unnamed girl posted an advertisement in the 'antiques for sale' section for the online market website under the heading 'Joyfull [sic] little boy (real) needing a good home, and caring people to be around'.
She also uploaded a picture of her brother, believed to be 12, and the price she hoped to fetch.
But when the ad went live a concerned internet surfer alerted the police who launched a state-wide hunt for the family to find out why a teenage boy was being offered for sale on the internet.
With the boy's image as their only clue, detectives spent two days combing the state in a bid to track him and his family down.
Police said no charges will be filed in the case but insisted they did have a long talk with the teen's sister about how serious the prank was.

That is funny.
SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLUM-Ex-Sheriff Martin Howe to Will Kane in "High Noon"
"It's a great life. You risk your skin catching killers and the juries turn them loose so they can come back and shoot at you again. If your honest , your poor your whole life. And , In the end , you wind up dying all alone on some dirty street. For what? For nothing. For a tin star."
Far from being a handicap to command, compassion is the measure of it. For unless one values the lives of his soldiers and is tormented by their ordeals , he is unfit to command.
