Southland - gone too far?
Anybody else still watching Southland? What do you think of some of the current story lines -- especially the stuff with Sherman?Voting against incumbents until we get a Congress that does its job.

I still like the show, but they're close to jumping the shark. For the morning will come. Brightly will it shine on the brave and true, kindly upon all who suffer for the cause, glorious upon the tombs of heroes. Thus will shine the dawn.

Last time I saw it I saw this
'Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a
delusional, illogical liberal minority, and rabidly
promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which
holds forth the proposition that it is entirely
possible to pick up a turd by the clean end!'

Yeah....I still LIKE the show, and the girlfriend LOVES it. I'm starting to dislike Sherman though. I know that they're trying to illustrate that the job changes you, blahblah yadda yadda, but come on...dumping a Beverly Hills teacher only to shack up with a banger's hoodrat sister? Because he "relates" to her more? Give me a break. Plus, he's kinda turning into an all around asshole. In addition, some of the procedural realism is gone. I rewatched some older episodes, and was impressed with little details they threw in regarding officer safety, etc. with the uniformed guys. Now the uniform stuff strikes me as similar to every other cop show where I find myself wondering where the f*ck the technical advisor is earning his check from. It's really starting to grate on me that they can't get "radio" traffic right anymore. LAPD verbiage is very recognizable and mainstream... "1A57, see the woman at 123 Main St., wants to report an assault, blah blah blah, Code 2 incident, RD 124657" etc etc. The radio traffic they use is ripped from every other mindless cop movie out there.
Typing this thread made me realize how much about the show is starting to bug me, though I still like it a lot."If anything worthwhile comes of this tragedy, it should be the realization by every citizen that often the only thing that stands between them and losing everything they hold dear... is the man wearing a badge." -- Ronald Reagan, in the wake of the deaths of 4 CHP troopers in the Newhall Incident, 1970

I watched last week's episode and the season finale tonight. Wow. Just wow. There were a lot of comments on the Southland Facebook page about it could all be a dream. I sure hope so.Alpha Phi Sigma Alum - Alpha Delta Chapter

JKS - Sherman is a mess. Character was ripped out of 90210 and made to act like he was from The Shield. Two unwatchable shows later I still hoped there was a master plan, though there's little evidence of it. The closest thing that parked car pushing scene had to do with policing is it might have made the cut for a one-off skit on Arrested Development.
