Officer subdues python with Taser after it wrapped itself around a man
UNIONTOWN, Pa. Dec 1, 2006 (AP)— A police officer used a Taser to subdue a python that had wrapped itself around a man's arm and would not let go.
Steve Crilly, 47, was feeding a rat to the eight-foot-long albino Burmese python, which belongs to his daughter, when it when it bit his left hand and wrapped tightly around his left arm Wednesday night, Uniontown patrolman Ray Miller said.
"The snake was on his arm and was eating his hand," Miller told the Herald-Standard of Uniontown for Friday's editions. Crilly "was very calm, considering there was a good bit of blood," he said.
In an effort to free the man without permanently harming the snake, Miller said he shot the animal with his Taser, a gun that sends an electric shock through wired darts. The snake immediately went limp and released its grip.
Crilly was treated by paramedics at the scene for what Miller called "a nasty cut" on his hand. The snake was uninjured and remained at the home, Miller said. Crilly did not immediately return a message left at his home Thursday by The Associated Press.
Miller said the incident was unique, but not especially scary. "Snakes don't bother me," he said.

Good job on the officers part. Guess the snake wanted to skip the snack and go right for the main course.

I trust there's no video of this.
How many more innocent snakes have to suffer at the hands of brutal officers. Surely the officer could have used alternate means or brought in a negotiator.the sole advantage of power is that you can do more good.

We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

Is that a credit card swiper in there, Motorway???
oh yeah, and taser, taser, taser. And Shepards we shall be,
for thee, My Lord, for thee,
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy Command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls will it ever be.

To be honest you should know as it's an American patrol car.
I'm afraid my depatment would never do trust us with a taser never mind issue us with our own personal laptop.
Picture is from when I went on a ride along whilst on holiday in the states.
Oh and it's my son in the car, I'm good for my age but not that good!the sole advantage of power is that you can do more good.

Pythons are native to Africa. Which makes the snake African-American. Which means the officer must have been wrong. Fire him and send him to prison and pay the snake $5 million in damages.

Police Officers put themselves at risk for strangers every day. Some do not make it home to their families. Next time you think of saying something negative about the police, remember...YOU are one of the strangers.

i hate snakes. i cant understand why anyone would want to have a pet snake. especially an 8 foot long one that tries to eat you.
in the warriors code there's no surrender, though his body says stop, his spirit cries...NEVER. deep in our souls, a quiet ember, knows its you against you, its the paradox that drives us all. its a battle of wills, in the heat of attack, its the passion that kills, and victory is yours alone.

A Smile
A smile cost nothing, but gives so much.
It enriches those who receive it,without making poorer those who give.It takes but a moment, but the memoryof it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that hecan get along without it,and none is so poor but thathe can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business, and is the countersign of friendship.
It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad,and it is nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,or stolen, for it is something that is of novalue to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile.Give them one of yours, as none needs a smileso much as he who has no more to give.

12-04-06, 09:46 AM #20Looks like a Florida Highway Patrol car. They have, and so do we swipers to read the info off the DL's to enter it more quickly into the computer program to print out cites and run warrants checks. FHP also uses the swiper to throw the DL info into crash reports. Alot of the time the DL's have been bent or put in a wallet that ruins the magnetic strip on the back. In those cases we end up just typing in the number of the DL and the program does the rest.
