Man Drove Parade Float While Drunk
ANDERSON, S.C. -- A South Carolina man is accused of being drunk while he drove a parade float, police said.
David Rodgers, 42, was in court in Columbia, S.C., on Tuesday. Authorities said he faces more than three dozen charges, including drunken driving, kidnapping and assaulting an officer.
Bond was set at $50,000.
A city security camera took video of the whole incident.
Investigators said Rodgers was driving a dance studio's float with several people on board when he broke out of line and sped past the parade's ending point.
The dance studio's owner said no one was hurt in the incident. "This event was totally unexpected and very unfortunate," said studio owner Amy Coleman. "Now it is in the hands of authorities, and I pray justice will be served."
The conditions of Rodgers' bond included no contact with the victims and no trespassing on dance studio property.
Investigators said Rodgers had served as float driver for the studio the past several years

there is just something funny about this though....
lol what a dorkhttp://www.allpoetry.com/Grunts%20Girl
We dallied under
Vine maples and sapling alders
Searched for lady slippers
But instead
Found blackberry riots and
Desiccated branches
An old skid road
Brought ghost ferns and
Hollows filled with
Skunk cabbage
While waves wrapped
Intricate lacings of weeds
'Round mule spinners
His cyanotic eyes
Were hard enough to make
The sun turn tail and
Tender enough to attract me
To his world of illusion

In 1999, when I worked for Enfield Police Department, I charged a person pulling a Christmas float for DWI. He blew a .10 on the Intoxilyzer. He said he was bored driving down the road and needed a little pick-me-up!
I'm ready for spring!
