Ohio Officer Saves Boy Who Fell Through Ice
Story by nbc4i.com
Authorities said a 14-year-old boy was rescued Monday evening after he fell through thin ice covering a pond.
The incident happened on the city's far east side near Gender Road and Harshman Drive at about 4 p.m., NBC 4's Mike Bowersock reported.
Witnesses said the boy was playing on the ice when he fell through.
Nearby neighbors tried to rescue the boy with sticks, but couldn't reach him, Bowersock reported.
The boy stayed above water by holding onto a large rock, witnesses said, but he slipped below water several times.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and a police officer was able to jump in the pond and pull the boy to safety, Bowersock reported.
The boy was taken to Children's Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

It is nice to see a positive story, so often those stories are overlooked by the press.
