    Man attacks deputies during arrest

Glad the deputies were okay, but I can't fathom why this guy wasn't plugged full of holes.

FORT COLLINS - A Larimer County Sheriff's Deputy was kicked in the head and another was hit with a hammer as they tried to subdue a suspect.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office says the deputies were called to a disturbance at 4420 Bridle Drive in Fort Collins on December 24th just before 11 p.m.

When they got there, authorities say a 51-year-old woman took cover behind a deputy and said, "He has a knife and he's trying to kill me."

Deputies put her in a safe area and then they tried to contact the suspect, 28-year-old Keith Maloney.

A physical altercation began when deputies say Maloney ignored repeated commands.

Authorities say he kicked one deputy in the head and threw him across the room. The other deputy was hit in the ribs with a hammer.

Maloney was eventually subdued and put in handcuffs, according to deputies. He was transported to Poudre Valley Hospital before he was taken to the Larimer County Detention Center.

Both deputies were also transported to Poudre Valley Hospital to be treated for their injuries, before they were released.

Authorities did find a knife in the room where Maloney was subdued.

The victim told investigators she and Maloney had been living together, but she had been trying to get him to move out.

Deputies say she claimed Maloney had tried to strangle her and threatened to kill her with a knife to her throat.

She says she was able to call 911 while he went out of the room and when deputies knocked, she told Maloney she would tell the person at the door that everything was all right. She says that is why he let her go to the door.

    Her identity was not released.

Maloney is being held on a $100,000 bond and faces charges including criminal attempt to commit murder in the second degree, felony menacing, false imprisonment, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and domestic violence.

Sounds like he got a bit of what he gave out, though.

Because the ACLU would sue them for excessive force, of course.

They would armchair quarterback them by saying something retarted like "why didn't you throw a blanket over him and tackle him" (Which was actually said here by an academy's civilian leader after a city officer shot a knife wielding suspect).
