Lampley Booked On Suspicion Of Domestic Violence

ENCINITAS, Calif. -- Former NBC sports announcer Jim Lampley was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony domestic violence, NBC 7/39 reported.
Lampley, 57, also was booked for investigation of violating a restraining order and dissuading a witness, said Capt. Glenn Revell of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Lampley was released after posting $35,000 bail.

Officials did not release details about the accusations against Lampley, but the Web site reported that Lampley was arrested at the home of his girlfriend. Sources told that Lampley had been under investigation because of previous complaints.

It was not known whether Lampley had retained an attorney.
Lampley's broadcasting career began in 1974 when ABC hired him as one of the first two sideline reporters on its college football telecasts.. He later worked for CBS and NBC and more recently as a boxing commentator for HBO.
An after-hours call to a HBO spokeswoman was not immediately returned.
Lampley also worked as a local TV sports reporter in Los Angeles and was once married to former NBC 7/39 newscaster Bree Walker.
