VIRGINIA, Minn. (AP) - A report has cleared a Minnesota state trooper who fatally shot a man on the Iron Range last November.
The St. Louis County Attorney's office reviewed the case and found that Trooper Bryan Carey was justified when he shot Ronald Hannuksela, 50.
Carey had recognized Hannuksela, who was wanted on several warrants, and stopped him in Eveleth on Nov. 28.
After Hannuksela refused to leave his vehicle, Carey broke the driver's side window with his flashlight and reached in to grab Hannuksela, who drew a revolver. The trooper fired seven shots at Hannuksela. Six of the bullets hit him.
Toxicology results found meth in Hannuksela's system.
Carey was placed on paid administrative leave after the shooting but has been back on the job for about a month.

I'm finally seeing something in the news that makes sense.

Wasn't this the same case that some broad PMed one of our members about, claiming to be his daughter? We all decided that the officer was justified in his actions just based on what she said.
Glad the officer is back on the job, and I hope what he had to do doesn't bother him.\\` ` ` ` < ` )___/\

Yeah, Ducky, it was the guy's daughter that PMed me. I just saw the video on the news. It looks like the trooper fired first, but the dirtbag returned fire immediately. He obviously had a gun and intended on using it.
