POSTED: 5:56 pm CST January 28, 2007
UPDATED: 6:05 pm CST January 28, 2007
DALLAS -- Police were searching Sunday for a car thief that had a Dallas police officer's badge, gun, and uniform, NBC 5 reported.
The items came into the thief's possession after the officer's personal car was stolen overnight from a parking lot on Oak Lawn Avenue, said Sr. Cpl. Janice Crowther.
There were also several other pieces of police equipment in the car.
The stolen vehicle is a turquoise and silver 1984 Chevy sports utility with Texas license plate 25P- FF4.

What, he forgot to leave his wallet in there too?
You'd think by now they'd update with the model. Were they even called "sports utility" back in 84?
What do you leave in your car that you'd regret if it were stolen?
Me : Tools mostly, bit of emergency cash

Other than my car itself, not much. But they'd probably abandon it about a block away, with a sympathy note.

I keep an EMS jump kit from the FD in my truck...that's probably the most expensive thing. That, and about 20 burned CDs. But those probably cost a dollar each.

Damn, that sucks for the Officer involved. If my truck was stolen the only thing I'd miss were my Oakley sunglasses and a few cd's...

I have a set of Craftsman tools in my trunk area (I drive a 94 explorer when I need to get around town) several blankets and towels, set of jumper cables, a 10 ton floor jack and 4 or 5 MREs.
I wouldnt think of leaving my uniform, gun or badge in my car at all...they go where I go or they stay in my closet."Sometimes people need a little help. Sometimes people need to be forgiven. And sometimes they need to go to jail."

Yea, she could be in for it. Everything was recovered but the vehicle and the weapon.
I'm more interested in hearing about the Dallas officer who stabbed another officer over the weekend."Somewhere a True Believer is training to kill you.
He is training with minimum food or water, in austere conditions, day and night.
The only thing clean on him is his weapon.
He doesn't worry about what workout to do---his rucksack weighs what it weighs, and he runs until the enemy stops chasing him.
The True Believer doesn't care "how hard it is"; he knows he either wins or he dies.
He doesn't go home at 1700; he is home.
He knows only the Cause.
Now, who wants to quit?"

My CERT bag (bunch of bandages, flashlights & a radio), school books, a bunch of burned CD's and maybe a magazine or two of ammo.
I usually have my pistols with me - but not always due to some very stupid restrictions on where I can carry - So yeah, because of some very stupid laws my guns may get stolen - I'm speaking of post offices, college buildings, Dallas museums, etc.
