Girl left in cold car: cops

A 1-year-old girl, found alone and crying in a frigid car parked outside a Northwest Side store Friday night, was recovering at a hospital as her mother was charged with endangering the child's life, Chicago Police said. A passerby noticed the child inside a car at the Jewel in the 3500 block of North Kedzie and called police, said Officer Kristina Schuler. Officers broke a car window and took the child to their warm squad car as they waited more than 10 minutes for the child's mother and 5-year-old brother to return. The girl was taken to Children's Memorial Hospital, Schuler said. The mother, Heba Mohamed, 25, of the 3200 block of North Kostner, was charged with a misdemeanor count of endangering the life of a child, police said.

I just love the fact that she could take her son in who can walk and not the one year old...

Because sweetheart this is Cook County. This is the safehaven for illegals and criminals across the nation. Our laws are more screwed up than that goofy state on the west coast.

She left the one year old in the car because she'd have to take it out of, and then put it back into the car seat.

I have a mental image of those officers comforting the baby while she warmed up, cuddling her and taking care of her when her own mother wouldn't, and yet all the media tends to focus on are BS stories of police brutality and things like that. I freaking hate people.

This happens way too often, unfortunately. I just saw a show where in my state a man left two or three of his kids in his running truck in the winter time while he went inside the bar with his buddies. How pathetic...

How very pathetic. Its too bad that the kid could not be given to a good home. And thank GOD that somone got involved and this did'nt end worse.

i went to a house the other the day where the mother left 4 kids unattended (locked in a bedroom) while she walked to the grocery store...a 5, 4, 2, and 1 year old. she left the 5 year old in charge, and he was doing a better job then her too.

I live in Michigan about 20 miles from Detroit, and ever since they built casinos, there have been a few cases of people leaving their kids in their car while they were in the casino gambling for hours. Friggen losers.
