Officer shot to death on West Side

February 12, 2007 - A Chicago police officer was shot and killed outside his West Side home early Monday morning.
The 34-year-old police officer -- who was an eight year veteran of the department -- was found shot in the rear of his home on West Harrison near Maplewood. He was apparently gunned down shortly after he parked his car just before 2 a.m.
"He had stopped at a fast food restaurant, picked up some food for his wife and him, drove into the rear of his building on the 2500 block of West Harrison, and we have information that a shot was heard, police officers respond to go that call found the officer shot. He was brought here to Stroger where he died," said Phil Cline, Chicago police superintendent.
Investigators spent several hours Monday morning searching the officer's home for clues into the deadly gunfire.
Police do not have a motive for the deadly shooting or a description of the suspect. It's not clear if it was robbery.
Officials are asking anyone with information on the deadly shooting to contact them.
