    State Patrol: Please move over
The State Patrol released dramatic video Thursday morning showing Trooper Jonathan Ferris, as he was hit by a vehicle on I-35 last week while he was pulling someone over.

The State Patrol is using the video to highlight Minnesota's "Move Over Law." The law requires drivers to change lanes and give emergency vehicles enough room on the side of the road.

Ferris is recovering from the accident. He suffered broken bones and a mild concussion. The driver that hit Ferris could face criminal charges.

"We have a different kind of seat that we put in the car [for safety]," said Tom Fraser, of the Minnesota State Patrol. "With cages and the different things, we've done a lot to prevent the kind of injuries we've seen in the past. Of Course, none of that would be necessary if people didn't hit us."

Fraser said he's been hit in his car 'only' six times. He said most of his colleagues have been hit many more times.

    Amen!

I was talking about this very subject with a Nebraska State Trooper only about 3 minutes before we were rear-ended on the interstate this past June. We were about to get out of the cruiser to watch another trooper do field sobriety on someone. Could have been A LOT worse!

    Question for yall :

Would you prefer a "move a lane over" law or "move to the centerline" law? I ask this because I used to move a lane over, but I've had too many f'ing morons try to pass me on that exposed lane so now I keep my right side wheels just inside the center line.

Also, first to spot the typo in the Minnesota "move over" Law brochure gets a cookie.

Just a little background, that law (in MN) was created shortly after MN Trooper Ted Foss was struck and killed by a Fedex truck on Interstate 90 in SE MN.

He's been hit 'ONLY' 6 times!?!?!?!?!?!

I'm glad we don't patrol many actual 70-75 mph highways. Most of our roads are 55 mph and under in speed limits.
