Police Deploy Wooden Police Cars
Old news but something I ran across tonight...
UKRANIAN COPS INSTALL FAKE COP CAR
http://www.strangevehicles.com/content/item/8754.html
Ukranian policemen install the first wooden police car imitation by the road near the town of Borispol, outside Kiev, February 26, 2003. Ukranian traffic police have decided to use imitation as a method of preventing speeding and hope to reduce the number of car accidents.

I've seen that used elsewhere. I guess I can see how it'd work....

Those are some nice rims on a police car. I don't recall ever seing those type of rims on a police car before
.
Being the best is not what always counts. What counts is always trying your best.
Remember who you are, and where you came from. That way you never get a big head.
May those that lost their lives in 9-11 RIP, for the things you did not many could do. You left so many behind so that you could save so few. For now we stand strong as one, and will not look back till the fight is done. (me)

Better car than I have!!!
We used to deploy the old car on Main Street with a mannekin dressed in uniform - affectionately named Woody. It did work on the tourists zipping through. The locals, however, weren't fooled (then again, the locals don't normally speed through town). The effectiveness of this deterrent goes WAY down when word gets out.
Woody was retired (and we still have him in the garage) when someone broke into the car (no damage) and took the entire uniform. Badge included.
Makes for some funny stops when I pull someone over who remembers Woody: (true story)
Me: "Sir, is there any legal reason for your excessive speed?"
Driver: "Well, I thought you were the dummy."
Me: "Sir, if you think about what you just said, you may realize that's probably not the most brilliant statement you've made today."
Driver: "Oh... yeah,.. um... gee, I'm really sorry...<stammer, blush, stammer>..."
Me: <snicker, smile, snicker!>
He got a written warning

How long did it take for everyone to stop joking about that little experiment?
