Underage Drinker Offers Police $17 Bribe (Have an attempted bribe story?)

    What a cheapskate!

Not much of a story in and of itself, but I thought some might have an attempted bribe story. I'm curious what people try to pull and what they think is enough bait for you to throw away your career.

Underage Drinker Offers Police $17 Bribe

(AP) IOWA CITY, Iowa An underage drinker who police say tried to bribe an officer in exchange for a warning was arrested. Amber Breanne Gordon, 19, of Iowa City, was charged with bribery, possession of alcohol while under the legal age and unlawful use of a driver's license/aiding and abetting. She was released on her own recognizance.

Police said Gordon was at the Summit Restaurant & Bar early Monday morning when she used someone else's driver's license during an identification check. She asked police if they'd let her go if she gave them money, court records show.

She then told the officer she was only joking but would pay if the officer wanted her to. She offered the officer all the money in her pocket, which was $17, records show.

If convicted, Gordon could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $7,500 on the bribery charge. The other charges are each punishable by up to 30 days in jail and fines of up to $500.

Nice. I had a drunk indian woman (feather, not dot) try to bribe me once when I stopped her for DUI 2 miles from the reservation. Tried begging me to let her go, to follow her back to the reservation, and then tried to toss cash my way. When all that didn't work, she decicded to fight me when I arrested her. Now lets remeber, she outweighed me by close to 100 pounds. Wans't a fair fight though, she ended up on the ground in handcuffs. Best part was she said "you'll have to pick me up now cause i'm fat, no way you can pick me up psssh." So then I picked her up and put her in the car ^^

Long story short, she went to prison because it was a felony DUI because she had an Ingnition Interlock restriction on her license, and didn't have one in the car I stopped her in. Tried to file a complaint against me because she skinned her knees in the scuffle and I didn't even get my uniform dirty. My Sgt basically told her to pack sand. Good stop all the way.

    Twice been offered a bribe,
    Once for a drink/driver who offered £200.
Second one a speeder who didn't want any more points on his licence, said "Here I'll give you the cash if you forget about the ticket."
Needless to say it only meant they got dealt with completely down the line. Neither got charged though, too much of a pain in the arse to bother, cause that's crime type stuff! ugh!
the sole advantage of power is that you can do more good.
