2 arrested for posing as police at airport
Police: Couple with gun claimed to be escorting prisoner

LOS ANGELES - A man and a woman posing as police officers were arrested at Los Angeles International Airport as they tried to board a plane with a gun, a spokeswoman for the airport police said on Saturday.
The two were arrested on Friday after they claimed to be officers with authority to transport a prisoner out of state and the woman told airport security staff that she was carrying a gun and produced paperwork “implying they were authorized to carry firearms onto an aircraft,” officer Belinda Nettles said in a statement.
Airport police made checks and discovered the two were not police officers and that the woman did not have a permit to carry the gun. Both were arrested for impersonating officers and the woman was also arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, Nettles said. She did not give their names.
Federal authorities are assisting with the investigation.

There's much more to this story that's not being told, I think. Anyone hear exactly why these morons thought it was so important to fly armed? What was the intent?

I'm guessing some liberal agenda. I think they wanted to get through security so some hidden cameras somewhere along the line or at the final airport could show holes in Bush's Homeland Security Plan right before election year.

Last I knew even Law Enforcement had to attend a training provided by Homeland Security to have the authorization to carry on board while transporting a prisoner. Isn't it still like that???
