Officer Shoots Teen Attempting To Rob Pizza Deliveryman
Dominos Pizza received a $70 order from the Bent Tree Apartments in Antioch Monday night. The store managers thought it sounded suspicious and called police.
Employees at Dominos said they received a similar call last November from the the Bent Tree apartment complex, and that deliveryman was robbed.
This time, a metro police detective suited up in a delivery uniform and went to the apartment with the Dominos employee.
When they arrived at the apartment, there was a 14 year-old with a weapon. Police say they detective told the teenager he was an officer, but that didn’t phase the teen, who then shot at the officer.
“That made no difference to the 14 year-old. He opened fire on Detective Acord. Detective Acord returned his fire and the 14 year old was struck in the upper leg. I want to emphasize here that the 14 year-old chose to open fire on a police detective who had acknowledged that he was an officer,” said Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron.
The teenager who was shot in the leg is recovering at a local hospital. No one else was hurt. One other teenage suspect was apprehended, and Metro officers are still looking for a third suspect.
