The women said they were kidnapped by a man outside of a movie theater in Mesquite. A family friend received a cell phone message at about 4 a.m. Sunday from one of the missing women as they screamed for help.

The women were taken to a hospital to be evaluated by medical personnel, police said.

So far, there is no information on the women's alleged kidnapper.

Angry Terrell Cousins Who Allegedly Lied About Kidnapping Face Charges

Terrell Cousins Who Allegedly Lied About Kidnapping Face Charges

    POSTED: 5:52 pm CDT March 21, 2007
    UPDATED: 11:20 am CDT March 22, 2007

MESQUITE, Texas -- The Lampasas County Sheriff's Office is planning to charge two Terrell cousins who concocted an elaborate kidnapping scheme, police said.

The cousins will be charged with filing a false police report, police said.

Sasha Abney, 20, and Bryshada Ward, 17, said they made up the kidnapping story after missing curfew Saturday night.

Sasha Abney's father, Richard Abney, said he questioned their initial story and urged the cousins to tell the police the truth.

Abney said the women were out late at a party and didn't want to come home after their curfew.

"They were just scared to come home," he said. "They got deeper and deeper in trouble, and they decided they were not going to come home, and they decided that they were going to drive south."

After making up a call for help early Sunday, the cousins ended up at a Shell gas station near Lampasas around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

"They ran out of money, they ran out of gas, lived in their car and was afraid to call us," Abney said.

The pair originally told authorities they had car trouble after leaving a Mesquite movie theater.

"I want to apologize to the city of Mesquite and the theaters at AMC that my daughter and my niece used them as an excuse for what they did," Abney said.

Abney also apologized to the police departments and thanked them for their help.

Mesquite police said they would not file criminal charges.

"We're just glad the two girls are home and they're cooperating now, and as far as we are concerned, the case is going to be closed," Lt. Bill Artesi said.
