Texas Deputy sentenced to Jail...

Any one watch the Hanity's america show on fox news last night. He has a segment on a Edwards county, Texas deputy sheriff who was sentenced to 1 year and 1 day in prison for shooting and illegal immigrant. What I gathered from the news show a traffic stop was initiated and the deputy saw about 9 persons laying in the rear of the suberban. As the deputy approached the vehicle sped away. The deputy thought the driver was trying to run him over and he fired 6 rounds into the fleeing vehicle. A female who was laying in the cargo area of the suberban was hit in the chin/jaw.

Anyones thoughts?

Vehicle vs person is assault with a deadly weapon in California...our DA would rule it justified use of force.

plumb stupid... sounds vaguely similar to the Border Patrol agent incident a few months back...

someone needs to get their "ac-right" and let us do our jobs, because the moment we start second-guessing what to do next on the street... a ton more cops are gonna wind up 10-7

I belive it's the US Attny by the name of sutton who is prosecuting these case and sending cops to jail. Yet every time he has granted immunuty to the criminals the officers were trying to arrest. WTF.
